Okay, I just spent over an hour browsing through -DeeT's 70s Page, listening to old commercials and kid's tv from my childhood. Brought back a lot of memories. Check it out.

Steve DoocyJust found out that those of us in Fairfax County are getting a bunch of new cable channels on June 1, including Lars' favorite: the Fox News channel. We're also getting FX, CMT, Food Network, and Discovery Health. I'm just looking forward to Foxnews so I can see what Steve Doocy has done with his life.

Fer fooks sake!! Anyone out there at all!? Comments? Feedback? Are you guys enjoying this thing or is a complete waste of all our time. Mike and I look at it as a fun little way to keep track of all the nonsense we would otherwise talk about on e-mail, but we had hoped you all would find it somewhat entertaining as well. If not, don't be shy, let us know. I may be offended, but at least I'll stop buggin' yer asses!!!

Remember, the chat board is just a click away... right over there.

Hello everybody... Mike has suggested a new feature for the Blog. I'm going to start (hopefully much earlier than 7:30 EDT in the future) doing a Friday movie recommendation for you, using all the buzz I've heard. First off, I've seen Frequency and I really liked it. Problem is, I think a large part of my enjoyment came from not knowing anything about it. Many people have pointed out silly things about it since and I think under different circumstances, I might have been distracted by a lot of the silliness. My friend Dave highly recommends The Flintstones... but the reviews I've seen so far are as mixed as any I've seen, and the bad ones are really really bad. So I would stay away if I were you, despite the fact that my company reps. a lot of the actors in it. Save your money and go see Gladiator twice.

Alrighty-then enjoy, and I'll see you next week for Laaz's Hollywood Wrap-up.

Here's an interesting use for the Blog... for those of you who participate in Lars and Adam's weekly pick-up basketball game (and for those of you who would like to in the future), the game is on for this saturday morning, 10:30 at the school on Magnolia, just a few blocks East of Woodman. See y'all there!

Tales from the front: There is a caste system in this society of ours. See, I have this meeting every Friday... very senior level management meeting. Now, I have enough of a sense of my place in the world to know that if not for what I do and what I know, I wouldn't even be there. But I am there and, well... anyway. On this particular day, I got there first to set up the room and after a few minutes, this very senior-level female exec. comes in and says "Ugh! I'm the first one here!"

This has been "see-through-Laaz"... reporting.

Message from Laaz: If you are not Mike or Laaz but have found something funny on the web that you would like to share with us, or even if you just want to say "hi", or let us know how much you enjoy our meaningless, sometimes insane ramblings, post a message on the Tri-Llama Productions chat board. It's right over there below the Tri-Llama insignia.

See the pack of cavorting llamas? Yup, that's it. We'd love to hear from you early and often. By-eeee!

Did you know you can leave a six-thousand-dollar projector in the leaky trunk of your car for several days, thoroughly soaking it, and making its carrying case smell of mildew and show visible mold... and have it still work? It's true! (No, I did not do this. But one of my lusers did.)

Time Code is a movie that I'm really looking forward to, just for the experimental value. So therefore, I'm not going to let a review like this spoil my enthusiasm. But I'll admit that Figgis' remarks sound incredibly pretentious, and this guy does a good job of skewering them.

SKÄNK For those of you who haven't seen the girls of SKANK yet, check out their official link. My agency, and I, represent the geniuses behind the collective. There is also a fan site and a featured article on the girls in this week's Entertainment Weekly.

Anyway, take a look at the girls... you'll be glad ya' did.

sacbee Voices - George Will As usual, George Will gets it exactly right. Those of us who are in the Angry Pen business aspire to be this good. Note, in particular, paragraphs 5, 6, & 7 which call into question the decision for a nighttime raid as opposed to a daytime "door-knocking and please-asking."

I think it's pretty cool that we went from having never heard of a "weblog" before Sunday, to having one up and running by Wednesday. A lot of the credit for that is due to the fine folks over at Blogger, who make this much easier than it has a right to be. If you want to learn more about weblogs, or see other examples of them, head on over to Blogger, or to www.weblogs.com. Our weblog is still in its infancy; I plan to make a lot of changes, and move it to the main tri-llama page.

Also, for those of you who are uninitiated, there's a very funny comic strip called Get Fuzzy. Check out yesterday's strip for a hilarious introduction.

By the way, for all of you waiting to see how the "mysterious temp" story would play itself out... the temp's name is Tracey. So, sorry, but it ain't her. Although, when I asked the guy she's working with for her name, it took him a minute to come up with it. So... there's still hope.

t r u e Those of you trying to reach this formerly clever take on the whole True phenomenon, are now being treated to this warning from a vicious corporate shark. Damn you lawyers! Damn you to hell!!!

In the words of Rizzo, "oh to be able to go back in time and put the internet genie back in it's bottle so the unclean masses would never know about it."

To my sister Damare': I'm sorry, but I strictly forbid you to go any further with this law degree thing. I simply cannot allow you to cross over to the dark side.

NBC.com: West Wing The West Wing is the best show on TV right now, but it's also has a tendency to descend into Liberal propaganda and, sometimes, needs a little rebuttal. Last night's episode was pretty blatant and, in the words of The Dude, "This agression will not stand...man"

Series creator Aaron Sorkin is a flaming liberal, which is fine... dumb, but fine. (for evidence of Aaron's lib. leanings, see his movie The American President). Nevertheless, I've always been impressed by his even-handedness on West Wing. The Republicans are not ALL bible-thumping NRA members and the Dem. Pres. screws up as often as he succeeds. But Martin Sheen is obviously playing Bill Clinton...always has been. And last night, Aaron tried to help out Al Gore by rewriting a little Democratic Party history.

Story goes like this, The President (who has always been in favor of campaign finance reform, apparently) wants to elect two pro-reformers to the Federal Election Commission. Repubs. threaten to bring up lots of bad issues (prayer in school, English as a first language, etc.) if they do. Pres. backs down. The message: Dems. have always been in favor of reform, but are afraid to bring it up because the big bad Repubs. will flame them out.

Now, since most people get their view of the world from TV, these reality-based shows can be really dangerous in that regard. So it's time for a little truth: No one, not a single Republican or Democrat, and especially not Al Gore, had ever heard the words "Campaign Finance Reform" until John McCain (a Republican) brought it up. And he did so at great risk to his political future. It just so happened that he was right, and the people cared about what he had to say. And so now, everyone, Al Gore most egregiously of all, is trying to co-opt the issue. Trying to put the shit back in the horse... to put it colorfully.

Nice try Aaron...but I'm watching you

Wednesday, April 26, 2000

OK, notice my post from much earlier in the day on 4/26 that starts "You know what I hate?"... The story here is that I was having a pretty in-depth conversation with a girl I met on-line. Not just idle chat mind you, more like 5 or 6 messages back and forth every day for 2 weeks. Then she asks for a picture, which I went ahead and sent, and...bubkis from her ever since!!! This after she went to great pains to say, in her personal ad, "being cool and interesting is more important to me than looks." So anyway, Captain Attitude was immediately released...but with nowhere to go and no foes to vanquish, the result became...my earlier post.

Anyway, my friend Amanda pointed out that she might not have been near her computer for a couple days, which is certainly possible and, in fact, leads to the silliest part of this whole thing. This girl...let's call her Erin, claimed to be six feet tall with short blonde hair and blue eyes. She also works as a temp while she pursues other (presumably less lucrative) enterprises. Well, it just so happens that there is a six-foot, short-haired blonde working as a temp on the desk of the agent who sits right next to me. And this so-called temp started on the exact same day that "Erin" dropped off the cyber-map...coincidence???

Probably.

More news from the computer dating front. So I find this girl, kinda cute, has posted a picture of herself in St. Mark's Square in Venice. Says she likes to travel. I say, cool, and I write her a nice little note. I get back the following response...

"sorry, no Hollywood."

What the hell kinda shit is that!!!! She's on a Goddamn computer dating site for Chrissakes, which means she ain't exactly stumblin' over Mr. Right every five seconds! So who the hell is she to be excluding entire classes of people based solely on their careers!?!?! Is this some bizarre kind of Jim Crow for the new Millennium? Wonder how she feels about blacks and Jews.

Anyway, I responded "you should specify "no Hollywood" in your profile so none of us waste any of our time with you."

No wonder she can't get a date. Sheesh!

You know what I hate...girls who say "looks aren't important to me", when what they really mean is "I'm a shallow bitch, but I'm in denial about that fact and I need to believe that I'm really very deep and progressive. So I'll say looks aren't important, even though if your scanned-in-snapshot doesn't look like Brad Pitt on his way to the Oscars, I'll drop you like a rabid weasel." That's what I hate!!!
