Speaking of History and Hollywood (as I was on Monday), the History Channel has a 4-part miniseries this week called "History vs. Hollywood" that looks at the historical accuracy of M*A*S*H, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Patton, and The French Connection. Sounds like it might be interesting. Episodes air each night this week at 9:00PM and 1:00AM, and they'll all be rerun in a row next Saturday at 8:00PM and midnight, and Sunday at 3:00PM. (Or, if you've got a TiVo, just get a season pass for it and forget worrying about when it's on!)

Jesse Jackson had a love child!!! Best new story of the year, hands down. And even though it's only January 18th, folks are gonna have to work damn hard to eclipse this one.
I would love to have heard how he told his wife about this. I'm thinking he said something like "Honey... I deceived... in order to concieve!!!" or "Honey, I forgot my own advice to 'Stay out da bushes!!!"

Ed and Katy (for those of you who know them) just called to say they are expecting another baby. That makes two, for those keeping score.

Love this quote from Colin Powell's confirmation hearing:
"He told senators that if they are tempted to impose sanctions against a country, 'please stop, count to 10, call me and we'll talk about it.' "

Anybody watching Missouri Senator John Ascroft's confirmation hearing? I think the most entertaining part is listening to a bunch of grown men say "Muhzzurah." What is this... 1870? If I have to live with Al Michaels turning New Orleans into a six sylable word, then these Senators can bloody well learn to say Mizzooree, like the rest of us!

We've gotten a couple of search engines hits on this already, so I thought I would call it to the attention of the rest of you. If you're interested in the historical accuracy of 13 Days, you might want to revisit the Angry Pen's column History and Hollywood from last July.
